Preble DD earns 3-year accreditation

EATON — The Preble County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Preble DD) recently received a three-year accreditation with zero citations from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) after a two-day in-house review.

A three-year accreditation is the highest level of certification that can be given to a county board of developmental disabilities and shows the organization’s extensive commitment to DODD standards. The accreditation survey was conducted by the Office of Provider Standards and Review within DODD, which is responsible for monitoring and oversight of all 88 of Ohio’s County Boards of Developmental Disabilities.

“Wow!” said DODD Accreditation Manager Tina Haggerty as she addressed all Preble DD employees in the closing meeting at the end of the review. “We were here last year, and we gave you a one-year accreditation. You took the challenge head on, and we see the difference you made. It is clear you worked very hard and the services for the people you serve are better for it. They are happy, and I am pleased to let you know that this is the first review of 2024 that I have led that has received zero citations. Kudos to you.”

Hagerty’s comments were met with smiles across the faces of all employees, DD officials noted in a press release last week.

“We place a tremendous amount of importance on service excellence at the Preble County Board of DD,” said Superintendent Brian Green. “We are extremely proud of this accomplishment and humbled by the positive feedback we received. Our employees should be very proud of this achievement as it confirms our commitment to excellence in providing support and services to people in our community with developmental disabilities.”

The Preble County Board of Developmental Disabilities serves more than 450 people of all ages in Preble County. Preble DD’s mission is to support individuals with developmental disabilities to live, learn, work and socialize as they choose.
