Lady Devils volleyball team wins 16th straight

BROOKVILLE — The Lady Devils captured their first SWBL volleyball title since 2009 this season and did it convincingly.

Brookville capped a perfect Buckeye Division slate with a 12-0 mark on Tuesday with a 25-14, 25-12, 25-6 win over Madison.

The Lady Devils concluded regular season play on Thursday with a 27-25, 25-17, 25-21 victory over Arcanum, its 16th straight win since suffering its lone loss of the season Aug. 31 at St. Henry.

No statistics were available from the Arcanum victory.

Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association (OHSVCA) most recent poll has Brookville ranked No. 9 in Division V.

Junior Sidney Sprada is No. 3 in the SWBL with 380 kills and 14th in the state. Sprada is also ninth in the SWBL in digs with 224. Junior Logynn Barr is tied for ninth in service aces with 49. Ella Nutter is tied for 10th in blocks with 33.

Jolie Gudorf, a freshman, is 10th in assists with 286 with junior Lauren Eller 11th with 279.

Brookville, No. 1 seed in the Southwest 2 Division V sectional, opens tournament play at home Saturday against the winner of the Valley View vs. Dixie match on Thursday at Brookville.
