Eaton’s Kyeleigh Gifford (3662), Brynlee Hamilton (36) and Addison Guiley (3664) helped the Eagles to a runner-up finish at the Ed Leas Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Fort St. Clair Park in Eaton.
EATON — The Eagles took 2nd place Saturday in both the boys and girls ‘Gold High School Varsity’ races during the Ed Leas Fall Classic at Fort Saint Clair Park.
Senior Skyler Derksen led Eaton with a 13th place finish in 18:04.7. Samuel Philpot of Russia took 1st place in 16:37.3.
Other Eaton runners included freshman Reed Daniels finishing 19th (18:21.6). Junior Jack Richardson was 20th (18:22.0). Sophomore Michael Fomin finished 24th (18:36.8). Junior Wes Kitchin took 29th (18:52.6).
Junior Dyan Staley finished 31st (19:05.3). Freshmen Zander Manning was 34th (19:27.7) while Kellan Foster was 35th (19:30.9), Tony Fomin came in 45th (20:42.0), Kale Cook finished 52nd (21:12.4), and Dane McElwain took 59th (21:34.9).
Sophomores Zachary Laycox finished 66th (21:58.2) while Carter Welch was 68th (22:33.1). Freshmen Jared Rodriguez finished 77th (23:34.2) with Mitchell Simmons 79th (24:08.3).
Junior Carson Alexander was 81st (24:31.6), with freshmen Aiden Marit 84th (25:26.2), Maneet Kang 85th (25:26.5), and Landen Schaeff 88th (27:55.1).
National Trail runners sophomore Tucker Denlinger placed 3rd in 17:10.4, junior Brayden Lee took 30th (18:53.5), freshman Bryce Couvutsakis 46th (20:44.5), and sophomore Merek Mumm 76th (23:19.3).
Twin Valley South runners sophomore Samuel DeHart placed 6th in 17:50.0, senior Hibiki Matsumoto 10th (17:57.1), sophomore Hunter Todd finished 27th (18:42.0), freshman Logan Mershon 39th (20:14.5), junior Eshton Justice 48th (20:54.3), and senior Matthew DeHart 82nd (24:58.5).
Brookville freshmen Alex Waggoner finished 44th (20:34.4), Carson Barr 67th (22:01.2), Bryson Murdock 71st (22:44.0), Warrick Deardurff 78th (24:04.9), senior Colton Harris 80th (24:26.3), freshman Trent Barr 83rd (25:23.8), freshman Skylar Logan 86th (26:43.3), and sophomore Benjamin Manley 87th (27:35.2).
Dixie junior Collin Day placed 4th (17:31.8), sophomores Evan Jackle finished 22nd (18:24.9), James McNew 25th (18:38.6), and freshman Brayden Day 47th (20:45.3).
GIRLS RESULTS
Leading Eaton in the girls race was junior Kyeleigh Gifford in 4th place in 21:45.4 with seniors Emily Haynes 5th (21:58.7), and Addison Guiley 7th (22:07.0).
Junior Elise Simmons was 13th (22:56.6), sophomores Vivian Weadick-Hoober 16th (23:16.2), sophomores Brynlee Hamilton 18th (23:19.6), Emma Pierce 25th (23:25.2), Ali Davis 27th (24:06.1), with freshmen Audrey Helsinger 28th (24:07.3), and McKenzie Gregory 44th (26:44.9).
Valley View junior Addy Abner took 1st place in 19:23.4.
Twin Valley South freshman Hailey Turpin finished 15th (23:06.1) and junior Baylee Bailey was 21st (23:39.3).
National Trail freshman Kira Rutan finished 23rd (23:43.6) and junior Sydney Whalen was 26th (24:03.5).
Brookville freshman Nora Dunkle finished 48th (27:41.0), junior Madeline Allen 52nd (28:21.3), senior Ava Ullery 59th (29:58.6), and junior Alexis Stegner was 70th (34:08.5).
