A decades-long project was celebrated with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Sept. 18, when the Preble County Historical Society and Nature Reserve and Preble County Chamber of Commerce gathered in honor of the society’s smokehouse from the 1800s. The 10x10 smokehouse was donated to PCHS in 1987 by Norman Hughes, from the family farm where it was used for years. The restoration of the smokehouse was completed last year with the help of Chris Miley and BJ Price, with funds raised for the project by the PCHS.
