LEWISBURG — The concrete pad has been poured for the basketball and pickle ball courts in Community Park.

The pad was installed in an open field next to the Lewisburg Trailriders Sportsmen Club, located at 6467 Knapke Lane.

The concrete was poured by the Booso Concrete Company of Lewisburg.

According to Steve Booso, owner of the company, work on setting up the pad for the basketball and pickle ball courts began on Monday, Sept. 16.

Booso’s crew poured the pad in two sections.

The second section was poured early in the morning on Saturday, Sept. 21.

“We’ve poured 180 yards of concrete,” Booso said.

Booso said the pad is large enough to contain a basketball court and three pickle ball courts.

Booso noted the dimensions of a pickle ball court are not as large as a tennis court.

“A pickle ball court is 22 feet wide by 40 feet long,” Booso said.

The dimensions of a standard tennis court is 36 feet wide by 78 feet long.

Lewisburg Municipal Manager Jeff Sewert said on Aug. 8 the village will use American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to pay for half of the cost of the project.

Sewert said the remaining money will come from the village’s capital improvements fund.

According to councilmember Ted Thies, who is council’s park board liaison, the park board plans to raise the funds for the basketball hoops and goals and take care of painting all the necessary lines for the basketball and pickle ball courts.
