Area football teams go 4-3, Shawnee remains unbeaten with 70-12 win over Bradford

PREBLE and MONTGOMERY COUNTIES — Area football teams went 4-3 this past Friday night with Brookville, National Trail, Preble Shawnee and Twin Valley South all earning victories.

Brookville

The Blue Devils improved to 1-1 in league play and 3-2 overall with a 21-0 win over Middletown Madison, 0-1 in SWBL play 3-2 overall. Jake Lenser rushed for 135 yards and two TDs while Jayden Resor had 85 yards and one TD as Brookville amassed 300 total yards while limiting Madison to 148.

Eaton

The Eagles suffered their first loss, 44-17 Friday to Valley View to fall to 1-1 in the SWBL and 4-1 overall. The Spartans improved to 2-0 in league play and 3-2 overall. Eaton quarterback Aaron Rogers completed nine of 19 pass attempts for 123 yards with one TD and one interception and also led the team with 25 yards rushing. Valley View amassed 325 total yards with Tristan Smith running for 108 yards and one TD while Anthony Valenti had 52 yards and two TDs, Brodie Hopkins 73 yards and one TD, and Brodie Gibbs 43 yards and a TD.

National Trail

The Blazers improved to 3-1 in Western Ohio Athletic Conference play and 3-2 overall with a 35-14 victory over Dixie (0-4, 0-5). No game statistics were available.

Northmont

The Thunderbolts lost to first place Springboro, 28-13. Northmont fell to 1-1 in Greater Western Ohio Conference play and 2-3 overall while the Panthers improved 2-0 and 4-1. Mattias Brunicardi led Springboro with 212 yards rushing and three TDs while the Panthers’ defense limited Northmont to 192 total yards.

Preble Shawnee

The Arrows improved to 4-0 in WOAC play and 5-0 overall with a 70-12 shellacking of Bradford. The Arrows amassed 536 total yards. Quarterback Brodie Morton completed 11 of 13 passes for 228 yards and five TDs. Isaac Blankenship ha four receptions for 156 yards and three TDs. Lane Lovely averaged 31.3 yards on four carries to rush for 125 yards and two TDs while Ethan Mauller averaged 26.3 yards with four carries for 105 yards and two TDs. Colton Schroeder set a school record going 10-for-10 on extra points. Griffin Trevino led Bradford with 86 yards on seven carries and one TD and also caught two passes for 18 yards.

Twin Valley South

The Panthers rolled to a 42-26 victory over Mississinawa Valley to improve to 1-3 in the WOAC and 1-4 overall while the Blackhawks fell to 1-3 and 1-4. Carson Hurst rushed for 172 yards and three TDs while Conner Mowell had 181 yards and two TDs to lead TVS to victory. Quarterback Caleb Spradling completed 16 of 27 pass attempts for 240 yards with four TDs and one interception.

Tri-County North

Arcanum posted a 37-0 victory over Tri-County North. Trojans’ quarterback Bishop Cartwright completed 16 of 21 passes for 187 yards and three TDs. M.J. Macy rushed for 89 yards on 17 carries. Ross Wagner (23 yards) and Lucas Miller (four yards) each scored one TD. Miller had eight pass receptions for 74 yards and a TD. Macy and Like Midlam each caught one TD.
