Northmont volleyball team defeats Wayne

CLAYTON — Northmont’s volleyball team, currently ranked No. 16 in the state among Division II schools by the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association, improved to 6-2 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference and 11-4 overall Monday with a three-set victory over Wayne.

The Lady Bolts fell behind 4-0 in the first set before getting on track to post a 25-19 win. Northmont took a commanding lead in the second set but Wayne battled back. The Lady Bolts settled down to win the second set 25-19.

Wayne played a more competitive third set but Northmont went on to secure the three-set sweep, 25-22.

Lydia Bridenbaugh led Northmont with 10 kills, and had 16 set attempts, nine total service points, one service ace and one dig. Jenna Hall had seven kills, 22 set attempts, 14 total service points, two service aces, and four digs.

Jadyn Johnson had four kills, 11 set attempts, 10 total service points, one dig, and two blocks. Elle Gilmore had three kills, seven set attempts, and one dig. Ryleigh Hardwick had three kills, eight set attempts, two digs, and one block.

Emma Lunsford had two kills, eight set attempts, two total service points, and one service ace. Brianna Abels had one kill, three set attempts, six assists, 11 total service points, two service aces, and three digs.

Maddie Hager five set attempts, 14 assists, 15 total service points, three service aces, and four digs. Madelyn Hoff had two digs. Madison Wolfe had two assists, 13 total service points, and 19 digs.

Laila Redd led Wayne with eight kills, 19 set attempts, 10 total service points, two service aces, and six digs. Kendall Turner had six kills, 26 set attempts, 11 total service points, three service aces, 11 digs, and one block. Maya Zinkiewicz had six set attempts, 13 total service points, three service aces, and led the Lady Warriors with 13 digs.

With the loss Wayne fell to 4-3 in conference play and 8-5 overall.
