Area athletes compete in Troy Twilight XC Invite

TROY — Thousands of spectators lined the course Saturday evening at the Troy Twilight Cross Country Invitational along the Great Miami River levee. The event featured eight races with athletes from the Cincinnati area and from schools as far north as Findlay competing.

The first race was the junior high girls 3200 meters at 5:50 p.m. followed by the junior high boys 3200 at 6:20 p.m., the high school women’s white division 5K at 6:50 p.m., the high school men’s white division 5K at 7:30 p.m., the high school women’s gray division 5K at 8 p.m., the high school men’s gray division 5K at 8:30 p.m., the high school women’s scarlet division 5K at 9 p.m. and the high school men’s scarlet division 5K at 9:30 p.m.

Spotlights illuminated portions of the course, but as darkness set in most of the course became an adventure for runners to navigate.

Twin Valley South freshman Hailey Turpin finished 61st (24:01.3) in the high school women’s gray division race at 8 p.m. and Twin Valley South junior Baylee Bailey finished 64th (24:07.9).

Northmont freshmen Samantha Santana finished 86th (27:10.7) and Dana Rodiguez 182nd (30:10.4) in the high school women’s white division race at 6:50 p.m. Northmont sophomores Anna Suzuki finished 234th (32:45.2) and Emily Warren was 238th (32:52.2).

Brookville freshmen Alex Waggoner finished 67th (21:26.5), Bryson Murdock 75th (21:44.9), Carson Barr 153rd (23:16.6), in the high school men’s white division race at 7:30 p.m.

Northmont juniors Henry Colley-Lambright was 130th (22:52.1) while Cade Matthews finished 196th (24:12.3).

Brookville senior Colton Harris was 221st (25:33.2), Northmont sophomore Owen Sanders 236th (26:48.7), Brookville freshmen Trent Barr 238th (27:16.4) while Skylar Logan was 241st (27:32.7), and Brookville sophomore Benjamin Manley 244th (27:47.3).

Twin Valley South sophomore Hunter Todd finished 42nd (19:02.8), juniors Logan Mershon 176th (20:32.4), Eshton Justice 211th (20:47.7), and senior Matthew DeHart 312th (22:47.4) in the high school men’s gray division 5K at 8:30 p.m.

Brookville senior Dylan Ballin finished 20th (19:43.3) the high school women’s scarlet division 5K at 9 p.m. Northmont junior Jazlen Simpson was 27th (19:52.1).

Northmont sophomore Addison Brown was 59th (20:39.5), Brookville senior Hunter Gardner 99th (21:11.9), freshman Ella Renner 160th (22:02.0), Northmont sophomore Makenna Long was 162nd (22:04.0).

Brookville freshman Cayleigh Tipton was 187th (22:19.7), Northmont senior Briana Pressel 204th (22:36.6), Brookville senior Serenity Suggs 229th (22:56.6), Northmont senior Lilia Lopez 234th (23:00.5).

Brookville freshman Kyra Hope was 311th (24:21.6), Northmont sophomores Abbie Weeks was 330th (25:03.1), and Maddie Abbott 350th (27:32.1).

In the final race of the night, the high school men’s scarlet division at 9:30 p.m., Northmont sophomore Dominic Lopez placed 8th (15:53.2). Brookville senior Lucas Tipton finished 35th (16:32.6).

Northmont sophomore Grant Mergler was 70th (17:05.3), Twin Valley South senior Hibiki Matsumoto 114th (17:35.5), with teammate sophomore Samuel DeHart 116th (17:37.2).

Brookville senior Logan Wright was 183rd (18:10.6) while juniors Christian Seitz was 184th (18:10.8) and Evan Pentecost 198th (18:16.8) and freshman Sam Seitz 208th (18:22.0).

Northmont sophomore Adam Wallace was 248th (18:37.7). Brookville junior Greyson Florkey was 253rd (18:39.1). Northmont freshman Nick Diller finished 290th (18:57.5).

Brookville runners senior Chase Puskas was 297th (19:04.6), sophomore Drew Stammen 311th (19:20.0), and senior Dylan Meyers 318th (19:25.0).

Northmont junior Chase Bishop finished 326th (19:44.6), Brookville sophomore Luuk Fokkink 327th (19:45.1), Northmont runners sophomore Alex Moore 339th (20:17.2), senior Matthew Helmick 341st (20:26.2), and freshman Noah Comer 343rd (20:44.6).
