BROOKVILLE — The Brookville High School Band was victorious over the Lebanon High School Band in their battle to collect donated items in the second week of the annual Goodwill Drive to Victory-Band Edition.

The Brookville band was declared the winner over Lebanon by collecting more than 62,000 pounds of donated items last week.

The victory earned Brookville $400.

Lebanon received $200 for collecting a little more than 10,000 pounds of donated items.

Donated items collected by Brookville last week ranged from office and home furniture, other household items, clothing, jewelry, electronics and toys.

Brookville also received a donation of a vehicle.

With the strong showing, Brookville is a contender for the top spot for the school collecting the most items, which will earn the band $1,000.

Brookville has participated in the event since 2011.

Since entering the competition in 2011, Brookville has claimed the title of overall champion for the last nine years running, providing scholarship money as well as money for the band.

This year the band hopes to purchase tubas with the money.

The event benefits people in the Miami Valley by donating items that are sold in Goodwill stores.

Monies raised from the donations support Easter Seals programs as well as support 40 programs and services in 29 counties across Ohio, including the new resource center in Trotwood that benefits everyone.

In addition to Brookville and Lebanon, other schools participating in the competition are Kenton Ridge, Tecumseh, Northeastern, Bellbrook, West Carrollton, Miamisburg, Franklin, Carlisle, Northmont, Centerville, Xenia, Fairborn, Waynesville, Valley View, Alter and Fairmont.
