Northmont golf team splits pair of GWOC matches

SPRINGFIELD — On Aug. 22 the Northmont boys varsity golf team put up a strong fight against Springfield at Reid Park but came up short, losing 173-164.

Eli Siehl led the team with a 41, hitting nearly 50 percent of greens in regulation and fairways, and averaging 1.8 putts per hole. Hayden Davis followed with a 43, while Brady Canan hit 72 percent of fairways to finish with a 44. Jack Siehl shot a 45, putting well with 1.9 putts per hole, and Tyson Clagg impressed in his varsity debut with a 46, starting with a birdie. Eli Morgan rounded out the team with a 50, handling the pressure as the youngest on varsity.

Aug. 19 the Thunderbolts scored a strong win on their home course, Meadowbrook, over Beavercreek, 165-179. Hayden Davis led the charge with a stellar 36, hitting 66 percent of greens in regulation.

Eli Siehl followed with a solid 41, while his twin brother Jack Siehl and Eli Morgan both shot 44, with Jack’s putting averaging just 1.8 putts per hole. Brady Canan and Jonas Roberts each added a 46, as the team’s seniors, Hayden, Eli, and Jack Siehl, guided Northmont to a commanding victory.
