Lady Devils score early & often to rout Wayne

HUBER HEIGHTS — On a steamy evening Monday the Brookville girls soccer team’s offense was as hot as the temperatures at the Lady Bolts posted an easy 9-0 non-league victory at Wayne.

Brookville scored early and often to take a 6-0 halftime lead.

Maddie Tarkany and Grace Taylor scored two goals each in the first half. Tarkany scored at 30:54 and 29:30 to put the Lady Devils up 3-0. Taylor followed with goals at 14:23 and 12:48 to make it 5-0.

Alyssa Lackey scored with just over seven minutes left in the first half to make it 6-0 and the rout was on.

Wayne goalkeeper senior Makayla Wayman surrendered all six first half goals while making 11 saves. Junior Briella Schuttinger took over in goal in the second half and allowed three goals with eight saves.

With the victory Brookville improved to 4-1-0 overall and remains in first place in the Buckeye Division of the Southwestern Buckeye League. Wayne fell to 0-2-0 overall.

Wayne plays at Eaton (Aug. 29) before hosting Waynesville (currently 3-1-0) on Thursday, Sept. 5.
