Roundup of area high school sporting events

Eaton’s girls tennis team posted a 5-0 home victory over Brookville on Wednesday, Aug. 21. At first singles Mallory Hitchcock (pictured) defeated Ava Brandenberry 6-0, 6-0.

VOLLEYBALL

Saturday at the Dixie Invitational the Twin Valley South girls volleyball team picked up three victories.

Against Yellow Springs the Lady Panthers won the first set with Yellow Springs forfeiting the second set. Clara Meyers led TVS with six kills.

TVS defeated Legacy Christian by scores of 25-6 and 26-24. Jayce Mowell had 12 assists and five service aces.

The Lady Panthers also defeated Urbana by scores of 25-16 and 26-24. Lainey Mercer had nine digs, three kills and two service aces. Danika Caldwell had eight digs, three kills and two service aces.

Tuesday saw TVS improved to 4-0 overall with a victory over Middletown Madison by scores of 25-12, 25-20, and 28-26.

GIRLS SOCCER

Twin Valley South’s girls soccer team posted a 3-0 win Monday against Wayne. Kelsie Maggard netted all three goals. Jordan Ritchie had two assists and Lexi Thompson had one. Goalkeeper Makenzie Clause made three saves to earn the shutout.

Tri-County North scored a 10-0 victory Wednesday against Stivers. Madison Jeffers, a senior, and freshman Reese Myers each scored three goals and Rylie Myers had two goals. Kasidi Daugherty and Hayden Shannon had one goal each. Reese and Rylie Myer and Shannon each had two assists and Yazmine Selhorst had one assist. Chloe Oliver and Hayden Shannon each had one save at goalkeeper.

BOYS GOLF

The Brookville boys golf team lost Wednesday to Miami East 178 – 201. Daelon Wackerman led the Devils with a 48 followed by Jackson Kleismit and Ben Grossman both with 49 and Troy Peak with a round of 55.

GIRLS TENNIS

Tuesday the Brookville girls tennis team fell 4-1 at home to Carlisle. Mackenzie Tait scored the Lady Devils lone victory at third singles by defeating Baylie Sprandel 6-4, 7-5. Ava Brandenberry lost at first singles 4-6, 1-6 to Melanie Nauta. Emily Etter lost at second singles 4-6, 4-7 (tiebreak) to Jada Back. At first doubles Carlisle’s duo of Olivia Thorn and Haivyn Goelling posted a 6-4, 7-4 (tiebreaker) win over Kara Thomas and Morgan Miller. At second doubles Josey Johnson and Brooklyn Cottrell defeated Brookville’s Lorelai Wells and Mina Volk 7-5, 7-5.
