EATON — Students in the Eaton Community School District return to class on Wednesday, Aug. 21, and much of the action taken during a Monday, Aug. 12, ECS Board of Education meeting dealt with preparing for the new year.

Superintendent Jeff Parker, in his report at the meeting, recognized all of the summer helpers who have worked to get the schools ready, from waxing floors to cleaning rooms and more, both with the custodial maintenance and with tech helpers.

Parker also reported the district would be rolling out the R Factor program in the district this year, “talking about how to make disciplined decisions, and what is an undisciplined decision, how to press pause and how to control your own 20 square feet,” he said. “It’s value added for a lot of our students, but also maybe for some of our students, it’ll be good to make a part of their life.”

As previously discussed, the R Factor is a program which “equips people with the mindset and skill set to be intentional about the way they think, make decisions, and take action. The R Factor is built on the equation, E+R=O (Event plus Response equals Outcome.)
