BROOKVILLE — Freshman Beck Fowler scored the winning goal Saturday to help lift Brookville to a 3-2 victory over Dixie in boys soccer action during the season opener for both teams.

The Blue Devils got off to a royal start with senior Dominic King netting the first goal at 33:48 in the first half to put Brookville up 1-0.

Dixie tied it at 27:57 with a goal by Nate Emrick but Brookville took a 2-1 lead at the 27:32 mark on a goal by junior Branson King. That score stood at halftime.

The Greyhounds added a goal in the second half and Fowler tacked on the winning goal for Brookville in a highly competitive match. Last year the two teams fought to a 4-4 deadlock.

Branson and Dominic King each had an assist and junior Danny Mansfield also had an assist. Goalkeeper Ayden Cowens made seven saves to help preserve the victory.

This year the Blue Devils’ lineup features five seniors – Dominic King, Matthew Holland, Roman Whorton, Aden Metcalf, and Ryan Clemmons.

Juniors include Ayden Cowens, Danny Mansfield, Jackson Wintrow, Even Pentecost, Branson King, Renard Allen, Jace Vance, Oscar Gonzalez, and Greyson Florkey.

Rounding out the lineup is sophomore Coen Henderson and freshmen Beck Fowler and Sam Seitz.

Last season the Blue Devils finished third in the Buckeye Division in the Southwestern Buckeye League with an 11-5-4 overall and 4-2-0 league record.
