CLAY TOWNSHIP — The trustees approved several motions made by trustee Kevin Wrightsman for road repair projects in the township.

The road repairs will be conducted by J & A Construction of Greenville.

Roads to be repaired are:

• Wellbaum Road south of Pleasant Plain Road ($10,400).

• Dodson Road north of state Route 40 ($3,500).

• Wenglerlawn Road west of Dodson Road ($3,500).

• Pleasant Plain Road from Arlington Road to Dodson Road ($7,164).

• Dodson Road from state Route 49 to Upper Lewisburg-Salem Road ($2,348).

Trustees also approved a motion by Wrightsman for right-of-way tree trimming of township roads by TCT Services, of Eaton.

Wrightsman said the trimming will take place on Wengerlawn Road from Number Nine Road to Brookville-Phillipsburg Road.

Wrightsman said trimming will also take place on Wengerlawn Road from state Route 49 to Diamond Mill Road.

“We are getting a $400 discount if TCT trims both areas at the same time, which will make the cost $6,000,” Wrightsman said.

In other business, trustees approved a revised job description update for the administrative assistant position.

Trustee chairperson Angela Howell said one of the changes is the administrative assistant will report to the trustee of personnel assignments.

Howell said a couple of additional duties will also be added to the administrative assistant position.

Howell said one of the additions calls for the administrative assistant to assist with the selling of road and garage equipment on gov.deals.com, an online auction marketplace for government surplus items.

Howell said the administrative assistant will also be responsible for assisting the trustees and all department heads “as needed.”

In other matters, Howell said the township has received the new telephone server.

“The phone service on the phones have not been updated since 2018,” Howell said.

“Then we ran into a technical issue and we weren’t able to receive technical support because we hadn’t paid for a subscription,” Howell added.

“So DTGI did a great job and got us the contract information and we ordered the new telephone server,” Howell said.

Howell also noted improvement were made to the township building’s Wi-Fi system.

“Our Wi-Fi download speeds were fine, but our upload speeds were not,” Howell said.

“The technology of the new police cruiser cameras that were installed is not necessarily matching up with the Wi-Fi technology that we have in the building which resulted in the camera videos taking too long to upload,” Howell continued.

Howell said the uploading speed was increased from 5 megabits to 35 megabits.

“I think they should have what they (police) need because that is the highest that Spectrum will go,” Howell said.

“If we need to go faster, then we have to redo the building and install fiber optic cable to get more speed,” Howell added.
