ENGLEWOOD — Sam Romeo, environmental educator at Aullwood Audubon Nature Center and Farm, will deliver a talk on ‘Ohio Wildlife History Timeline’ at the Randolph Township Historical Society History Center, 114 Valleyview Dr., Englewood, on Oct. 11, following the society’s regular business meeting.
Romeo leads regular nature walks at Aullwood and on Sept. 30 demonstrated apple-pie baking in Dutch ovens over an open fire. Before coming to Aullwood, he led hikes through wildlife areas such as Hocking Hills.
Romeo said, “Ohio has a rich and varied history when it comes to its wildlife. Our state has seen wildlife species and habitat come and go for more than 200 years. Changes in the landscape, increasing human population, and advances in wildlife management, knowledge, and technology have created a timeline that is both sad and successful.”
The business meeting at 7 p.m. and Romeo’s talk, which will begin at 7:30, is free to all interested people. The RTHS meets on the second Wednesday of every month. While the October meeting will be in the evening, from November through March the meetings are at 1 p.m.
The History Center is also open to the public on most Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m., when the flag and OPEN sign are displayed at the sign on N. Main Street and History Lane. For more details, call 937-836-8538 or check the society’s Facebook page.
