Resurfacing project set to begin on U.S. 35/Ohio 122

PREBLE COUNTY — A pavement repair and resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on U.S. 35 and Ohio 122 in Preble County, and lane restrictions will go into effect next week.

Beginning Monday, June 12, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will start work on U.S. 35, where they will be repairing pavement and resurfacing the route between the eastern corporation of the city of Eaton and Preble County Line Road.

Lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and traffic will be maintained by flaggers during hours of operation.

Construction also includes resurfacing Ohio 122, from State Line Road to the western corporation limit of Eaton, and beginning Monday, June 26, lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Throughout the project eastbound Ohio 122 will remain open, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Westbound Ohio 122, however, will be closed to traffic in segmented sections, with the first segment between State Line and Wolverton roads closed during hours of operation and traffic detoured via U.S. 127, Ohio 725 and Ohio 177.

The remaining segments between Wolverton and Daily roads; between Daily and Toby roads; and between Toby Road and the Eaton corporation will be closed during the 2024 construction season; however, no two adjacent sections being closed simultaneously.

Barrett Paving Materials Inc., was awarded a contract in the amount of $11.7 million to complete the project, and with an interim completion in the fall of 2023, all work is scheduled to be completed in August 2024.
