Blue Devils win doubleheader vs. Oakwood

BROOKVILLE — With three straight victories, two on Saturday during a doubleheader sweep of Oakwood, the Brookville Blue Devils improved to 10-5 overall and 4-3 in Southwest Buckeye League play.

The pair of losses saw the Lumberjacks fall to 6-7 and 3-4.

In the 7-2 win in the first game of the twin bill, Braden Chambers pitched five and one third innings for the Devils, scattered five hits, gave up one earned run with two walks and five strikeouts. At the plate Chambers went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and scored a run.

Nathan Waggoner worked one and two thirds of an inning and surrendered just one hit.

Sam Fullenkamp led the offense going 2-for-3 with a walk, one steal, two runs and one RBI. Hunter Gray went 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly for one RBI. Seth Hoover went 1-for-3 with two steals, one run and one RBI.

Nathan Waggoner went 1-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases and scored once. Brandon Waggoner went 1-for-4 and scored. Kayde Baker went 1-for-1. Brody Webb went 1-for-3 and Jace Wood went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and one run.

Nathan Lloyd pitched four and a third innings for Oakwood. He got tagged for five hits, two earned runs with two walks and five strikeouts. Josh Rosenberg pitched two and two thirds innings and gave up three hits, one earned run with two walks and five strikeouts.

Lloyd led the Lumberjacks with two hits in three at bats with a stolen base, one run and one RBI. Steve Lauterbach went 1-for-3 with one RBI. James Altenberg and Ben Moreira both went 1-for-3 and Joe Rubino went 1-for-1. Ian Ganow had two stolen bases and Josh Fester one.

Oakwood scored one run in the first and third innings to lead 2-0. Brookville scored three in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the sixth to secure the victory.

Game two saw Oakwood take 3-0 lead in the top of the first with Brookville getting two runs in the home half of the inning. The Lumberjacks held a one run advantage until the Blue Devils came up with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to secure the victory. Both teams committed a pair of errors.

Nathan Waggoner pitched three innings, scattered five hits, gave up two earned runs with a strikeout. Brody Webb pitched four innings in relief and scattered three hits with no runs and one walk.

Webb went 2-for-2 with a double and one run. Brandon Waggoner went 2-for-3 with a double, one run and one RBI. Braden Chambers went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Hunter Gray went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Sam Fullenkamp went 1-for-3. Seth Hoover drew a walk and stole a base. Lane Willoughby scored one run.

Steve Lauterbach led Oakwood with two hits in three at bats with a double, one run and two RBIs. Ben Moreira also went 2-for-3 with one run and two RBIs. Nathan Lloyd went 2-for-3 with a run. Ethan Stone went 1-for-2 with a run.

Moreira pitched four innings, surrendered five hits, two earned runs with two walks and five strikeouts. Matt Rohan worked three innings and got tagged for two hits, one earned run and had four strikeouts.
