BROOKVILLE — City Manager Jack Kuntz informed council that Kevin Garlitz has accepted the city’s offer to be the zoning and code enforcement officer.

Garlitz, previously served as the zoning administrator for Clay Township.

According to Kuntz, Garlitz is a Brookville High School graduate and a retired police officer.

“Kevin is very familiar with the Brookville community as well as zoning and code enforcement from his previous experiences in Englewood and Clay Township,” Kuntz said.

Kuntz advised Garlitz will be working on a part-time basis, “working no more than 25 hours a week.”

“Kevin will be starting on a regular basis the week of Oct. 21,” Kuntz said.

“We’re excited to have Kevin join Brookville,” Kuntz added.

As a result of Garlitz’s resignation, the Clay Township trustees are seeking a part-time zoning officer.

According to trustee chairperson Angela Howell, the trustees have received several applications for the position.

“We have some very good candidates that we will begin interviewing,” Howell said.

“I think we’ve got a lot of good opportunities for the person who is going to come in. I think we will find somebody who will do a good job,” Howell continued.

Howell indicated Garlitz offered to assist the township and the new zoning officer if needed during the transition period.

“I do want to thank you for your time and your service to the community. We appreciate it and wish you good luck,” Howell told Garlitz.
