Walk to Remember, Walk for Hope raises funds

EATON — The Preble County Mental Health & Recovery Board in partnership with the Preble County Suicide Prevention Coalition hosted the 13th annual Walk to Remember, Walk for Hope on Saturday, Sept. 28. The event was dedicated to those lost by suicide in the Preble County community and to bring awareness to the importance of mental health care.

“With the help of our community and our sponsors we successfully raised over $8,000 at this year’s event,” MHRB officials said in a press release last week. “All the proceeds raised benefit local suicide prevention programming like the Hope Squads.”

Hope Squads are part of a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program in each of the high schools in Preble County. Hope Squads work to spread messages of hope to their fellow classmates.

“The Preble County Mental Health & Recovery Board would like to thank everyone who came out to support our efforts this year, including all of the volunteers, Hope Squad Members, and sponsors. Together we will continue the fight to end suicide in Preble County,” the release continued.
