Trail boys win D-3 district golf title, advances to state tournament

MIAMISBURG — National Trail’s boys golf team won its first-ever district championship last week when they competed in the Southwest District Division III tournament at Pipestone golf course. Trail shot a team score of 315 to finish two strokes ahead of Cincinnati Seven Hills over the 18 hole tournament. With the win, the Blazers qualify for the state tournament.

Trail was led by senior Nick Brubaker, who shot a very solid 73, good for 2nd place overall. Freshman Josh Brubaker came in at 79, senior Justin Turner shot 81, and junior Kellen Laird fired an 82. Senior Aidan Koehl shot 94 in the non-scoring spot.

The Blazers will complete their season this weekend when they travel to NorthStar Country Club for the state tournament on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12.
