Oktoberfest takes over WA this weekend

There will be plenty of fun and autumn activities this weekend, at the West Alexandria Celebration Committee’s Oktoberfest, slated for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13. Last year’s festival was dampened by inclement weather, but this year’s looks to have good weather full of family fun.

WEST ALEXANDRIA — There will be plenty of fun and autumn activities this weekend, at the West Alexandria Celebration Committee’s Oktoberfest, slated for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13.

Oktoberfest runs from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. The festival will kick off with a parade at 11 a.m. Saturday morning, followed by recognition of the West Alexandria Citizen of the Year during opening ceremonies.

Oktoberfest Queen, first and second runners-up will also be crowned on Saturday, and Alpha Kappa Sorority will host its 8th Annual Oktoberfest Miss and Mr. Pageant in Peace Park.

This family-friendly event features food, music, crafts, games and a beer garden.

Patrick Arnold will perform on stage at noon on Saturday, followed by Ethan Moles at 3 p.m.

On Sunday, musical entertainment will be provided by Grant Deaton at noon, and Preble County Line Band at 3 p.m.

Raffle tickets for a 50/50 drawing will be sold both days, with the winner being pulled at 5:30 p.m.
