Brookville wins SWBL for 1st time since 2009

With Tuesday night’s win at Waynesville, the Lady Devils Volleyball team earned the SWBL League Championship title for the first time since 2009.

Brookville

With Tuesday night’s win at Waynesville, the Lady Devils Volleyball team proudly earned the SWBL League Championship title for the first time since 2009. Brookville won in three sets, 25-22, 25-21, 26-24 to improve to 10-0 in league play and 18-1 overall while Waynesville fell to 8-2 in the SWBL and 11-7 overall. Sidney Sprada led the Lady Devils with 15 kills, 38 set attempts, 23 total service points, 13 digs, and one block. Logynn Barr had 14 kills, 33 set attempts, 16 total service points, two aces, three digs, and one block. Jolie Gudorf had six kills, 11 set attempts, 17 assists, nine total service points, one ace, five digs, and one block. Mallory Hoover had two kills, six set attempts, and two blocks. Ella Nutter had one kill, 10 set attempts, one assist, nine total service points, one ace, one dig, and two blocks. Paloma Carey had two assists, five total service points, and seven digs. Abby Fullenkamp had seven set attempts, one dig, and one block.

Eaton

In a non-league contest the Lady Eagles defeated Wilmington on Monday, 25-17, 25-12, 25-23 to improve to 10-7 overall. Julianne Deaton had 14 kills, 29 set attempts, one dig, and one block. Shandon Garrett had 11 kills, 29 set attempts, 10 total service points, 10 digs, and one block. Daisy Suggs had six kills, 21 set attempts, two digs, and two blocks. Kenzie Wilson had two kills, 10 set attempts, 25 assists, 10 total service points, one ace, and four digs. Jill Ditmer had two kills, 13 set attempts, one assist, 10 total service points, two aces, and two digs. Alexis Oda had a kill, seven set attempts, and two digs. Charlee Ruebush had 16 total service points, three aces, and eight digs. Ella Statzer had five set attempts, four assists, 15 total service points, four aces, and 12 digs. Eaton lost to Oakwood on Tuesday in five sets, 23-25, 27-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Northmont

The Lady Bolts defeated Springboro in four sets Tuesday, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17 to improve to 7-4 in conference play and 13-6 overall while the Lady Panthers fell to 6-5 and 8-9 overall. Briana Abels led Northmont with 26 total service points and seven aces. Maddie Hager had 17 total service points, and four aces/ Hallie Hill had 10 total service points and one ace. Jadyn Johnson had 14 total service points and two aces.

Preble Shawnee

After suffering a four set loss to Valley View on Monday, the Lady Arrows lost to Newton on Tuesday in three sets, 25-23, 25-9, 25-15. Sallie Montgomery led Shawnee in the Valley View match with 11 kills, 34 set attempts, 14 total service points, two aces, 20 digs, and one block. Macy Price had 10 kills, 27 set attempts, 28 total service points, seven aces, 27 digs, and one block. Caylee Hatmaker had six kills, 17 set attempts, 13 total service points, one ace, eight digs, and one block. Ally Rike had three kills, 16 set attempts, 18 assists, 13 total service points, one ace, and 10 digs. Emma Fields had two kills, nine set attempts, six total service points, 18 digs, and two blocks. Layla Roberts had one kill, seven set attempts, six total service points, and seven digs. Emily Shields had three set attempts, eight total service points, one ace, and 15 digs.

Tri-County North

The Lady Panthers lost Monday to Middletown Christian, 25-20, 25-14, 25-21, and lost Tuesday to Mississinawa Valley, 25-10, 22-25, 25-10, 25-10 to fall to 0-10 in conference play and 0-18 overall. Against Mississinawa Valley, Kora Lykins had five kills, 15 set attempts, 15 total service points, two aces, and two digs. Chloe Jackson had to kills, nine set attempts, three total service points, and four digs. Kiley Adkins had one kill, eight set attempts, eight total service points, two aces, and six digs. Grace Hemp had one kill, 13 set attempts, six assists, 10 total service points, and four digs. Lola Grieshop had one kill, nine set attempts, three total service points, and one block. Taylor Cole had 15 set attempts, 10 total service points, one ace, and one block. Paityn Davidson seven total service points, one ace, and 10 digs..

Twin Valley South

The Lady Panthers defeated Ansonia on Monday in five sets, 12-25, 25-27, 25-23, 25-22, 15-8 to improved to 5-4 in conference play and 10-9 overall. Clara Meyers had 17 kills, 62 set attempts, 19 total service points, four aces, 14 digs, and one block. Brylii Day had nine kills, 23 set attempts, five total service points, four digs, and one block. Jayce Mowell had four kills, 14 set attempts, nine assists, 17 total service points, two aces, and 22 digs. Neveah Caldwell had three kills, 16 set attempts, and one dig. Danika Caldwell had three kills, 17 set attempts, 25 assists, 14 total service points, three aces, and nine digs. Lainey Mercer had two kills, 26 set attempts, two total service points, and six digs. Mya Hundley had one kill, eight set attempts, 18 total service points, four aces, and 14 digs.

BOYS SOCCER

Brookville won back-to-back matches 3-1 over Milton-Union on Monday and 7-1 over Miami East on Tuesday (see related story in this issue).

Eaton

The Eagles scored a 7-0 victory non-league Monday over Preble Shawnee to improve to 6-6-1 while the Arrows fell to 5-7-0. Jordan Downs played a dominant match with five goals and one assist. Tanner Dungan had a goal and two assists. Billy Bruce had one goal. Gabe Sawesky had an assist and goalkeeper Connor Fitch made seven saves to earn the shutout.

Northmont

The Thunderbolts lost Tuesday to Miamisburg 2-1 to fall to 2-4-0 in conference play and 5-7-2 overall while the Vikings improved to 3-2-1 and 4-7-3 overall. Kamryn Kleber scored the Thunderbolts lone goal off an assist by Julian Bazile. Ethan Christ made three saves in goal. Bryce Fultz and Sam Toadvine scored goals for Miamisburg off assists by Kellan Alldred and Parker Hurt. Goalkeeper Drake Hammond made two saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

Eaton

The Lady Eagles scored a 5-0 non-league victory Monday over Preble Shawnee to improve to 7-4-3 while the Lady Arrows fell to 7-3-3. Myla Roberts had two goals and an assist. Adie Heggs had two goals and Jaelinn Miller had one goal. Eva Roberts had two assists, and Autumn Gillenwater had one assist. Hannah Redick made three saves in goal.

Northmont

With a 3-0 victory Wednesday at Miamisburg the Lady Bolts improved to 2-4-0 in conference play and 6-7-0 overall while the Lady Vikings fell to 2-4-0 and 4-10-0. Ashlynn Bazile scored all three Northmont goals and Ayla Rammel made two saves in goal. Monday the Lady Bolts scored a 4-2 non-conference win over Troy. Chinaza Ibe scored a hat-trick with three goals and Emma Poland netted one. Ashlyn Bazile had two assists and Grace White had one. Rammel made seven saves in goal.

Preble Shawnee

The Lady Arrows scored a 5-0 victory over National Trail to improve to 7-0-2 in conference play and 8-3-3 overall while the Lady Blazers fell to 1-7-0 and 5-7-1 overall. Aubrey Unger led Shawnee with two goals and two assists. Lyla Ford and Josie Mondello-Garrett scored one goal each with Trail scoring an own goal to account for one of the five goals. Jillian Murphy made three saves in goal.
