BROOKVILLE — In a hard fought match Monday the Milton-Union Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead at Brookville, a score that stood at halftime.

Seven minutes into the second half Milton-Union accidentally put the ball into their own goal while defending a Blue Devils attack to knot the score, 1-1.

Dominic King scored inside the box while being pressured by Bulldogs’ defender Devin Wooddall with 23:28 remaining to put Brookville up, 2-1.

As Milton-Union tried to battle back fans became vocal and berated the field referee for perceived one-sided calls. Fans became more upset with the officiating as the contest progressed.

Brookville put the game out of reach with 8:42 remaining on a goal by Aden Metcalf.

The Blue Devils kept the Bulldogs at bay the remainder of the match to secure the 3-1 non-league victory. Goalkeeper Ayden Cowens made three saves.

“Milton-Union has a good program with a great coach,” said Brookville coach Dylan Harris. “Todd (Winchester) has been doing it a long time and is the winningest coach in Milton-Union history, so it is always a challenge going against Todd. He is a good friend of mine.

“He is hard working and his teams are always well-coached and are very difficult to break down. We saw that in the first half,” Harris added. “Luckily some of the adjustments we made at halftime paid off were able to push us over the edge in the second half.”

With the loss Milton-Union fell to 6-7-1 overall while Brookville improved to 8-3-0.

Tuesday the Blue Devils went on the road to defeat non-league opponent Miami East, 7-1. Dominic King scored a hat trick netting three goals and also had one assist. Roman Whorton had two goals and an assist.

Branson King had one goal and two assists and Coen Henderson had one goal. Renard Allen, Aden Metcalf and Jace Vance each had an assist. Goalkeeper Ayden Cowens made eight saves.

Ty Rohrer scored the Vikings lone goal.

With the victory the Blue Devils improved to 9-3-0 while Miami East fell to 3-11-0.
