EATON — A special celebratory meeting was held on Thursday, Sept. 19, to recognize all of the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers for their service and commitment to the Preble County CASA Program.

The bi-monthly CASA meeting was an opportunity to honor and thank the volunteers who work hard to ensure the children and youth of Preble County, who have been placed in foster care as a result of experiencing abuse or neglect, have their voices heard every day. In Preble County there are currently 18 dedicated individuals who ensure children’s needs are met and their best interest are recognized in court.

It was also a time to recognize five individuals who have supported the CASA program for years of service. Sarah Ile was recognized for 20 years of service; Wendy Aker and Mary Ruf, for 10 years of service; Maria Rodeffer and Joyce Tuthill for 5 years of service.

Numerous Preble County children are waiting for a CASA Volunteer to serve as their voice in the Preble County Juvenile Court proceedings and more advocates are needed.
