PCHS hosting Fall Gathering this Sunday

The annual Fall Gathering event at the Preble County Historical Society will include lots of family fun and educational opportunities this Sunday, Sept. 29.

EATON — The Preble County Historical Society is hosting Historical Days, the Fall Gathering Festival on Sunday, Sept. 29, at the society’s farm located at 7693 Swartsel Road.

The festival will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

This year, visitors can take a wagon tour and stop at four different living history encampments to experience eras including the Civil War, the Mexica-American War, the Revolutionary War, and learn about Native Americans.

There will be an educational program with topics including the Battle of Forty Foot Pitch and Ludlow Springs and an antique program, as well as live music provided by Ethan Moles, Grant Wayne, and The Price Brothers.

Food trucks will be on-site, and there will be kid’s activities as well.

“The museums will be open, and there will be plenty of neat things to see and do,” PCHS Executive Director Lisa White said.”Demonstrations such as wheel spinning, chair caining, and butter making will also be taking place.
