BROOKVILLE — Because of injuries Brookville has had to shift players from their original positions and it has forced young players into starting roles not expected this soon in their career.

Jayden Resor, Jake Lenser, and Lucas Chambers stepped up as Brookville blanked the Madison Mohawks 21-0 at Homecoming for Brookville.

Resor, a sophomore played a lot of running back during the game and scored a touchdown. A junior, Lenser handled the PAT and kickoff roles going a perfect three for three in extra point boots, ran for a career high 129 yards and two touchdowns.

Chambers, a freshman, took on a defensive back role and intercepted three passes tying a Brookville record for aerial thefts during a game with nine other Blue Devils.

Overall, it was a sloppy game as the teams combined for 14 penalties and five turnovers. Brookville was the benefactor of all five turnovers.

Stats from Aaron Crabtree show Brookville outgained Madison 281-116. Brookville ran for 276 yards. Brookville had 61 plays to 37 for Madison and had the ball for 30 minutes to 18 for Madison. Jake Lenser had a career high 129 yards rushing. Lucas Chambers had three interceptions, D.J. Moore had six tackles, and Lenser had two tackles and six assists.

The first quarter was scoreless as each team failed on fourth down tries. Following the first of Chambers interceptions Brookville drove into Madison territory and was stopped on downs after an incomplete pass.

Madison responded with a nice drive of their own and got inside the Brookville twenty. Here the Mohawks tried a pass down to the goal line and Chambers raced up and picked off the ball at the one-yard line. He bolted up the sideline in front of the Brookville bench before he was corralled by the Mohawks at the Madison 48.

Brookville drove down field and from the ten Jaydon Resor took a ball on a jet sweep and trotted into the end zone untouched. Lenser booted the PAT and Brookville led 7-0 with 1:27 left in the first half.

In the third quarter Brookville took the opening kickoff and methodically drove the field. Brookville used up 7:37 of the clock but lost the ball on downs at the ten as a pass was caught, but just outside the end zone on 4th down.

Madison lost yardage and a poor punt went out of bounds at the Mohawk 24.

Brookville scored in five plays with Jake Lenser going up the middle and scoring from the five yard line to make it 14-0 with 11 seconds left in the third quarter.

Madison drove the ball down the field as their running attack moved the ball steadily. However, When Johnson tried to pass Chambers made another interception at the Brookville 44.

It took Brookville seven plays to score and effectively decide the game. Lenser scored from the seven with 5:12 remaining and Brookville had won the game 21-0.

Chambers was the tenth player in Brookville Football history with a trio of interceptions. Also on that list are Jim Snedeker in 1974, Greg Pettit in 1978, Mike Moran in 1980, Matt Appenzeller 1982, Richie Moody 1988, Kregg Creamer in 1989, Chad Lindsey 1994, Doug Stephan 2001, and Matt Hughes 2015.

It was the fifth time a Brookville has ended with a 21-0 score. It was the 118th shut out by Brookville, 63rd time at home. The 20th time a game totaled 21 points and first time ever in a three-game stretch that Brookville has had a shutout, surrendered over fifty points, and followed that with another shutout.
