Lovely leads Shawnee to 48-7 win over TVS

WEST ALEXANDRIA — Lane Lovely rushed for nearly 100 yards and three touchdowns and Preble Shawnee scored on the second play of the game, never looking back en route to a 48-7 win over host Twin Valley South in a Western Ohio Athletic Conference football game on Thursday, Sept. 12.

The Arrows improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the WOAC with the win. South falls to 0-4 and 0-3.

Shawnee’s offense racked up 364 yards on the night, with 206 coming on the ground and another 158 through the air.

Brody Morton connected with five different receivers to complete 14-of-20 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns.

Reece Smith caught six passes for 80 yards. Caleb Blankenship had three catches for 28 yards. Isaac Blankenship had two catches for 29 yards and two touchdowns.

On the ground, Lovely rushed for 92 yards, while Isaac Blankenship had 72.

For South, Caden Bishop was 2-for-9 passing for 28 yards and a touchdown. Griffen Roell had four carries for 17 yards, while Conner Mowell had 11 carries for 18 yards.

Lovely went 28 yards on the second play of the game for Shawnee’s offense for a touchdown and quick 7-0 lead.

On the Arrows next possession, they scored in four play when Morton connected with Isaac Blankenship with a 12-yard TD pass for a 14-0 lead with 7:49 left in the first half.

The second quarter was mainly quiet until Shawnee reached the end zone with 3:27 left in the half on a 2-yard TD run by Lovely.

Shawnee opened the third quarter with a 6-play drive that was capped off with an 18-yard TD pass from Morton to Isaac Blankenship with 10:14 left.

South followed with its best offensive possession of the game, driving 55 yards in just over six minutes. The drive ended with a 12-yard TD pass from Bishop to Mason Crews with 3:33 left in the third.

The Arrows responded on their next possession driving 61-yards in seven plays and ended with Lovely’s third touchdown of the game – a 2-yard run with 17.4 left in the third.

The Arrows added two more scores in the fourth, a 1-yard TD run by Smith with 9:22 remaining and a 15-yard by Nolan Earles with 1:28 left.

Shawnee will host Bradford (0-4, 0-3 on Friday, while Twin Valley South will host Mississinawa Valley (1-3, 1-2).
