CLAYTON — The Lady Bolts volleyball team Sept. 5 defeated Springboro 3-0 for the first time since 2019.

Coach Matt Bridenbaugh felt the match proved what his team is capable of but without every piece of the puzzle in place.

In the first set Northmont trailed the majority of the time until the score became tied at 20-20. The Lady Bolts did not give up, fighting to keep a one point lead until they won the first set 25-23.

In the second set Springboro came out fighting and maintained a 4 point lead through the majority of the set but once the score hit 16-21 the Lady Bolts locked in and battled back to bring the score to 21-23.

With the score 22-24 the Lady Bolts fought off a set point and tied the score with a Maddie Hager ace to even it out 24-24. Northmont went up one from a Springboro attack error and had set point 25-24 and Elle Gilmore finished it to win the set 26-24.

In the third set the Lady Bolts took control and did not look back and won 25-15. This improves Northmont to 3-2 in conference play and 7-2 overall.

Junior Jenna Hall had 13 kills. Senior Elle Gilmore had six kills. Senior Emma Lunsford had four kills and junior Ryleigh Hardwick had three. Maddie Hager and Lydia Bridenbaugh controlled the game from the service line with Hager scoring three aces and Bridenbaugh two aces.
