PC grand jury issues indictments

EATON — A Preble County grand jury on Tuesday, Sept. 3, indicted two individuals arrested on drug and weapon charges after being found trying to break into the former West Elkton school building, and also returned indictments on the man arrested in a domestic violence-related stabbing in Gratis last month.

Courtney M. Thompson, 39, 6290 Forestdale Ave., Dayton, was indicted on charges including having weapons while under disability with specification, aggravated possession of drugs, possession of heroin, breaking and entering, possessing criminal tools and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia. Noah Edward Bruce Wolfe, 26, 425 Front Street, Greenville, was also indicted for having weapons while under disability with specification, aggravated possession of drugs, possession of heroin, breaking and entering, possessing criminal tools and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy conducting a routine business check at the former West Elkton school building led to the arrest of Thompson and Wolfe.

According to Sheriff Mike Simpson, early Friday morning, Aug. 23, a deputy was conducting a routine business check at the former Preble Shawnee Elementary School in West Elkton when he discovered a vehicle behind the school.

“Upon further investigation, the deputy located a male and female on the property. Upon interviewing the subjects, the male admitted that they were there to break into the building,” Simpson reported. Deputies located criminal tools in the vehicle, including crow bars, hack saws, bolt cutters, spot and flashlights, according to Simpson. They also found in the vehicle suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as a loaded 9mm handgun.

David Alex Daniels, 45, 6 Parrish Drive, Gratis, was indicted on charges including attempt to commit an offense, two counts felonious assault, and domestic violence.The charges stem from a stabbing incident which occurred in Gratis on Monday, Aug. 26.

According to Simpson, Daniels and the victim resided together for multiple years and share children together. PCSO deputies and Gratis PD were dispatched to the residence on a domestic situation, according to Simpson. When the Gratis PD unit arrived on scene, they located a female in the driveway who had been stabbed.

Daniels had seven prior domestic violence convictions.

Bond was set by the court at $500,000 cash or surety. The victim remained hospitalized at press time, according to officials. Daniels remained in custody at the Preble County Jail.

The grand jury also issued indictments on:

Stephen Mark Dorton, 20 Smith Street, West Alexandria, domestic violence, failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, obstructing official business, obstructing official business and driving under suspension or in violation of license restriction; Joseph D. Newton, 166 S. Main Street, Somerville, aggravated possession of drugs, aggravated possession of drugs and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia; Amanda Kay Lesh, 403 South Street, Eaton, aggravated possession of drugs and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia; Calvin Rusk, 305 Little League Drive, Eaton, possession of LSD, contributing to unruliness or delinquency of a child and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also: Terrence Lafonn Tillman, 108 Northwood Avenue, Dayton, escape, domestic violence, violating a protection order, assault and assault; Jeremy Michael Allaman, 435 Lincoln Front Street, Richmond, Indiana, tampering with evidence, possession of drugs, possess of drugs, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them – OVI and operating a motor vehicle or agricultural tractor without being in control of it, and Micah Robert Ross, 117 S. 12th Street, Richmond, Indiana, aggravated possession of drugs and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
