CityWide Development Corporation providing new Kroger $8 million in federal New Markets Tax Credits

EATON — CityWide Development Corporation announced last week $8 million in federal New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs) for the relocated and expanded Kroger store in Eaton.

Those funds are allocated through Dayton Region New Market Fund, a CityWide affiliate.

The relocated and expanded store will be approximately 72,000 square feet. Kroger will retain 150 jobs and create more than 100 new jobs through this projectm according to CityWide. With this expansion, residents will see an increase in access to fresh and affordable food, officials said in a press release last week.

“Our recent investment showcases our long-standing dedication to the Eaton community,” said Ann Reed, Cincinnati/Dayton division president. “For 33 years, we have provided exceptional service and support to our valued customers in Preble County. We are thrilled to announce our latest investment, which represents our commitment to increase job opportunities and expand access to fresh and affordable food for our residents.”

“This project addresses the critical need for food access in rural communities, especially for lower income families,” said Dan Kane president of CityWide Development Corporation.

Kroger’s new store will be located in a building owned by Reid Health. Reid Health is adding clinical space to the facility to improve availability of healthcare services for Preble County residents, officials said.
