T’bolts defeat Elks for first time since 2019

CLAYTON — Northmont’s boys soccer team defeated Centerville 2-1 Tuesday night, the Thunderbolts first regular season victory over the Elks since 2019.

The Thunderbolts came out with a point to prove against the Elks in their 2024 conference opener.

“We came out firing and were relentless for the entire 80 minutes,” said Northmont coach Bob Brown. “We got one in the first half, and after giving up the equalizer, scored what turned out to be the match winner with 24 minutes to play.”

Goals on the night came from Luke Siefert and Chris Powell. Assists came from Nevin Smith and Luke Siefert. Ethan Crist allowed one goal and made four saves.

With the victory Northmont improved to 2-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play. Centerville suffered its first loss of the season to fall to 1-1-2 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play.

The Thunderbolts face another key conference opponent in their next game against undefeated Fairmont (3-0-0).
