Downtown Eaton Car Show this Saturday

EATON — Automobiles of all sorts are invited to Downtown Eaton on Saturday, Aug. 24, as the 26th annual Old Fashioned Downtown Saturday Nite brings the community an evening of live music, vintage and classic cars and trucks, motorcycles, and good old-fashioned family fun.

This year’s show will run from 2-7 p.m. Awards will be presented at 6 p.m, according to organizers.

This year, the awards will include the Top 40, Best of Show, Kids’ Choice, Eaton Police Chief Choice, Eaton Fire Chief Choice, Best Classic Muscle Car, Best Modern Muscle Car, the Bob Barker Award, Best Motorcycle, Best Truck, and Best Corvette,” according to DE Promotions and Event Chair Zac Wilson.

Full Strut will be the featured band, and there will be inflatables for the children to enjoy.

“There will be an assortment of food and other vendors available, and several downtown businesses will be open welcoming patrons,” Wilson added.

Main Street will close and be cleared at noon. Show parking will begin at 1 p.m.

There will be no off-site staging this year as was done last year. Participants should enter from East Main/Maple Street, and register upon entry. Those who pre-registered online should show their receipt to receive their packets, according to show co-chair Megan Lutz.

Entrants will receive dash plaques and be entered to win prizes, including a $500 grand prize sponsored by Larkin Cobb Chevrolet GMC, $300 second prize, and $100 third prize, and more.

Downtown Saturday Nite is sponsored by Neaton Auto, JA Kovach Law, Positive Points Inc./The Star Theatre, Metallus, Simon Insurance, Somerville National Bank, Eaton Skyline, Beoddy Oil, Blu Sky’s Enterprise and Parker Hannifin.

Downtown Saturday Nite would also not be possible without the help of the Eaton Police, Fire/EMS and Public Maintenance Division, according to organizers.
