UNION — Michael J. Petrosky was sworn in as a member of the planning commission and board of zoning appeals during the Aug. 12 City of Union council meeting by Law Director Joseph Moore.

Petrosky has been a resident of Union since 1993. He previously lived in Butler Township and attended Butler High School and would have graduated in 1985. He dropped out in 1983 and received his GED.

Petrosky owns an e-commerce business and a business that performs criminal background checks for businesses requiring individuals to be screened prior to employment. He also works as an Uber and Lyft driver.

Petrosky applied to the vacancies on the Union Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals because he wanted to be more involved in the community.

“I have lived here for 31 years and I would just like to get more involved in the community and find out more about the inner workings of our local government,” Petrosky said. “I would like to hopefully be a voice for the residents on what needs to be done and what, we, the residents would like to have done.”

Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in council chambers at city hall, 118 N. Main St., Union. Residents should call the city at 937-836-8624 to verify if a meeting is scheduled for the month.
