BROOKVILLE — The Brookville Police department will hold it’s third “Community Strides – Walk The Block with A Cop,” event on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. that will encompass the condominiums west of Arlington Road.

According to police chief Doug Jerome, the event will start at the J.E. Rhodes dental office, located at 480 Rona Parkway.

Jerome indicated the route will include Rona Parkway, Adrian Court, Ramblewood Court, Ridge Road, Pleasant Court, and Coronado Drive.

Two previous events were held this summer.

The kick-off event took place July 11 at the Golden Estates, covering Calmer Ernst Boulevard, Golden Meadow Avenue, Golden Beach Drive, Golden Maple Avenue, Calmer Ernst Boulevard and Dorothy Lane.

The second event was held in the Terrace Park subdivision, covering Bayview Avenue, June Place, Crosswell Avenue, Ostend Street, Brookmor Drive. Bayview Avenue and Terrace Park Boulevard.

Jerome said police officer Forest Wilson suggested the idea while attending a certification class where he learned agencies across the country have conducted a program called “Walk the Block With A Cop.”

Jerome said in June officers will talk to the residents in the neighborhoods and and learn if they have any concerns.

The program has been widely accepted by residents who have participated in the previous events.
