Eaton Community Schools seeking income tax renewal

EATON – Residents of the Eaton Community School District will see a renewal of the district’s .75 percent income tax on the Tuesday, Nov. 5, election ballot. Board members approved a resolution placing it on the ballot during a Monday, July 8, regular meeting.

The board at a meeting in June had passed a resolution regarding the necessity of raising $2,775,385 per year for district expenses. The income tax, for current expenses, will be levied for five years, effective Jan. 1, 2026.

During the meeting, board members also heard from representatives from DataServe and the South West Ohio Computer Association (SWOCA) regarding the district’s advances in technology in recent years.

The school district has made significant progress in the last five years, with grant money use and partnerships with other organizations, according to officials. Technology and cybersecurity advancements have been and continue to be made, including upgrading of intercom systems, security and more.

The board also:

•Approved the resignations of teacher Amie Burr, Assistant Treasurer William Derringer, and teacher Jon Tipton.

•Approved the employment of Jane Feck and Jared Millhouse as long-term substitute teachers.

•Approved the employment of teacher Corinne Baber.

•Approved supplemental contracts for Jennifer Jones, MTSS Building Coordinator, Middle School and Stacy Webb, Honor Society Advisor, Middle School and Student Council Advisor, Middle School.

•Approved the employment of Amanda Lykins, Special Education Aide.

•Approved the employment of Jeffrey Lensch, Reserve Boys Soccer Coach; John Randall, High School Assistant Football Coach and Steven Scarce, Varsity Golf.

•Approved the employment of Melissa Dixon, Assistant Special Education Director and School Psychologist Assistant.
