Preble Soil and Water Conservation District turns 75

This year’s Preble Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Annual Meeting is an event that has been 75 years in the making! Join us at the Preble County Historical Society on the afternoon of August 17th as we celebrate our 75th Anniversary in conjunction with the Year of Conservation at the Historical Society. The Preble County Chamber of Commerce is also partnering with us as we look back on 75 years of conservation work in Preble County.

Beginning at 3 p.m., the Historical Society will have their exhibits and trails open and will offer wagon rides. Election for the Board of Supervisors will take place from 4-6 p.m. A delicious meal will be served by Shoelaces Catering beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by recognition of former supervisors and past employees. Our keynote speaker will be land surveyor and local historian Brad Kramer who will share an entertaining and educational talk on The Original Land Surveys: Preble County’s First Resource Inventory. Our Conservation Hall of Fame and Outstanding Cooperator award winners will be announced followed by the ever popular Conservation Trivia.

The banquet portion of the meeting will end with door prizes and the announcement of the results of the supervisor election. But that’s not everything! Following the meeting, the Price Brothers and the Blue Jacket Boys will perform at the amphitheater. An outstanding fireworks display at dusk will close the event. Best of all, the entire event is free of charge!

This celebration would not be possible without support from our presenting sponsors including Eaton Hometown Furniture, Somerville Bank, and Reid Health. Additional supporters include Brubaker Grain and Chemical, Preble County Farm Bureau, John’s Tire Service, Quality Tile and Drainage Systems LLC, and the Jim Arnett Family. We look forward to celebrating with you!

The event is free and open to the public but you must have reservations. To RSVP, call Preble SWCD at 937-456-5159 no later than Monday, Aug. 5.
