BROOKVILLE — The Brookville Police Department partnered with the Brookville Branch Library on Saturday, May 18, to give bike helmets to those in need.

Children’s Librarian Teresa Curtis-Morrow presented a bicycle related story time to 62 attendees. Brookville PD Crime Prevention Officer Forest Wilson discussed bike safety, passed out and fitted helmets. The Brookville Fire Department also visited the library with an ambulance and fire truck for the kids to look at, touch and learn about.

The helmets were donated to the department by Dayton Children’s Hospital to hand out. Anyone who still needs a bicycle helmet can pick one up at the city building, 301 Sycamore Street.

Brookville PD Chief Douglas Jerome delivered pizza and snacks to the gathering while Officer Wilson responded to a call. The police department generously donated all the fixings for the pizza party.

“We were happy to partner with our local P.D. to promote bicycle safety, hand out helmets and provide a space for families to come and meet with our community’s first responders,” said library manager Damian Kristof.
