Community Fun Fest promising big fun

EATON — On Saturday, June 15, Downtown Eaton will host its third annual free Community Fun Fest to kick off summer and welcome riders from the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure to the county with a street fair full of surprises.

Organizers are planning for the best Community Fun Fest yet, and an unforgettable evening of fun. “Enjoy a thrilling zipline on Main Street, rock wall climbing, inflatables, an archery range, a bike rodeo, water yo-yos, yard games, live music from Tyler Michael Walton and the Mayflower Satchel, and much more for the entire family. Plus, one lucky kid will win a Guardian bicycle in our raffle!” Downtown Eaton Events & Promotions Chair Zac Wilson said in a press release.

Eating and shopping will also highlight the evening. “You can satisfy your taste buds with delicious offerings from Smoke Nation, Ullery’s Ice Cream, Go Downs Fixins, Burritos De La Tia, Groovy Sweets, Molokinis, Momma’s Pop-N-Kettle, and more,” Wilson added. “Over 20 retail vendors will also line Main Street, offering a variety of goods and services.”

This year’s Community Fun Fest coincides with the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure group’s stay in Eaton at the Preble County Fairgrounds for this year’s GOBA ride. Over 1,500 riders from across the country have registered for that ride so far, according to officials, with approximately 90 percent of those camping at the fairgrounds. Those individuals are being bused downtown to join the party.

“Community Fun Fest is a wonderful way for local families to spend quality time together having fun, and possibly meet new friends with the guests in town with GOBA,” City of Eaton Community Development Specialist said. “City staff is excited to help out and support the Downtown Eaton group with this event and more and hope the downtown businesses will see the benefits of having a Saturday evening crowd visiting their establishments.”

Thanks to a special donation, Downtown Eaton will be raffling a new child’s Guardian bike during Community Fun Fest. Visit the Downtown Eaton tent for tickets. All proceeds go back into bringing event programming to downtown Eaton like Community Fun Fest, the Downtown Saturday Night Car & Truck Show, and White Christmas.

Community Fun Fest will run from 4-7 p.m., with streets closing for set up beginning at 2 p.m.
