NEW MADISON — Kasidi Daugherty struck out 12 and limited Tri-Village to just three hits Wednesday, but Tri-County North still ended up losing 4-2 to the Lady Patriots in the Division IV, Southwest I district semifinal.

The Lady Panthers out-hit Tri-Village five to three, but a four run fifth inning was too much for Tri-County North to overcome.

Hannah Webster hit a leadoff double to right in the top of the second inning and Bella Cherry followed with a double to left to score Webster. Cherry advanced to third on a ground out by Jordan Pinion and scored on a single to right by Chloe Jackson to give Tri-County North a 2-0 lead.

Tri-Village took a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning. Emma Cantrell drew a leadoff walk and Tai Mize walked on four pitches. Emma Greer followed with a double to center to score Cantrell and Mize.

Kierstan Wilcox drew a walk and Greer advanced to third on a passed ball. Kenna Wilcox came in to pinch run for Kiersten Wilcox. Camryn Osborne singled to center to drive in Greer with Wilcox advancing to third and Osborne to second on the return throw to the infield.

Wilcox scored on a passed ball. Daugherty got Bierly to pop out, Burk to line out to second and struck out Kaley Brandon to end the inning.

Tri-County North got one runner aboard in the top of the sixth when Gracie Hemp hit a leadoff infield single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Daugherty. Hemp advanced to third on a ground out but a pop up for the third out ended the scoring opportunity.

Daugherty struck out two of the three batters she faced in the bottom of the sixth. Sadie Royer hit a one out single in the top of the seventh but a fly out to left and a strike out ended the game with the Lady Patriots walking away with a 4-2 win.

Emma Greer earned the victory in relief by pitching five innings, allowing two hits, no runs, no walks, while striking out four. Starting pitcher Elizabeth Poling worked two innings, allowed three hits and two runs with no walks and two strike outs.

Daugherty pitched six innings for the Lady Panthers, allowed three hits, four runs (three earned), with seven walks and 12 strike outs.

Tri-County North ends its season at 11-14 while Tri-Village secured its 21st straight victory to improve to 22-1. The Lady Patriots advanced to face S. Charleston Southeastern Local in the district tournament on Friday.
