EATON — National Trail FFA students who created an “Enchanted Storybook Trail” at the Preble County Historical Society and Nature Reserve were honored for their efforts to a special reception with Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine.
The students’ project included a partnership with the Preble County District Library in order to provide an outdoor experience for visitors to the PCHS trail system, according to PCHS Executive Director Lisa White.
“Along the trail, you can follow pages of a book, while also searching for fairy houses in the trees. Trail’s FFA team placed 3rd in the nation with this project. For this effort, we were invited to meet Fran at her home in Columbus. It was so special,” White said. “We were greeted by their amazing staff, met their cute rescue pup ‘Dolly,’ had fresh warm cookies, and all were given a Christmas tree ornament for a souvenir.”
