For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Saturday, Aug. 19, Clayton report 230000946: Police responded to United Dairy Farmers where employees reported a female walked in with blood all over her face an entered the bathroom. Police made contact with the female who stated she had been assaulted by a friend in the parking lot of MUSE Nightclub located behind UDF. The suspect fled prior to police arriving. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court for review.

Sunday, Aug. 20, Brookville report 23-00351: Officers assisted Perry Township on a deer that was struck by a vehicle in the 10600 block of Air Hill Rd. The deer was euthanized, and a local resident took possession of the carcass.

Clayton report 230000950: Larry D. Dean, Jr., 27, of Clayton 45415, was arrested on an active warrant and transported to the county jail.

Monday, Aug. 21, Clayton report 230000953: Robert E. Ross, 47, of Dayton 45405, was charged with driving under OVI suspension and speeding. He was transported to the county jail.

Tuesday, Aug. 22, Clayton report 230000957: A resident of Barley Drive reported losing his wallet while on an RTA bus, which he exited on Main Street across from Green Glen Apartments. The wallet contained three credit cards, a Social Security card, an Ohio I.D. card and $1,000 cash. The victim contacted RTA but no one had turned in the wallet. Someone attempted to make a Door Dash purchase using one of his credit cards, but the transaction was declined.

Clayton report 230000958: Burglary was reported in 500 block of Springview Lane where an unknown subject removed a mountain bike valued at $1,300 from a closed garage.

Wednesday, Aug. 23, Brookville report 23-00352: Police responded to a possible domestic incident where one of the people involved had a gun. The weapon turned out to be a BB gun. A refusal to prosecute form was filled out by two male subjects who alleged a female pulled a gun out when they were inside an apartment to collect belongings.

Brookville report 23-00353: An officer responded to the 7300 block of Dodson Rd. to assist Clay Township on a suspicious circumstance involving a firearm. A female subject stated she was struck with knives, food and was threatened with a firearm inside her residence and fled her home, which was one property away from where officers located her. The female suspect was alleged to be inside a camper behind the victim’s home. Officers knocked on the camper door and gave verbal commands for everyone to come outside. A male subject exited the camper but was determined not to be a suspect or threat and was released. A female suspect was taken into custody by Clay Township officers.

Clayton report 230000960: A male subject reported buying a vehicle off another male in the parking lot of Northmont High School, but the seller reported losing the title and the buyer was unable to transfer the vehicle to his name at the BMV the next day. The transmission on the vehicle was also slipping and the buyer wanted to renegotiate the price of the purchase, but the seller refused. The victim was advised that a prosecutor would have to review the case. The victim was found to be a wanted subject and was arrested (see Clayton report 230000961).

Clayton report 230000961: A male subject came to the police department with documentation for a police report that he dropping off before picking up his daughter at a daycare facility in Englewood. He provided his information for the report, and it was discovered that he was a wanted subject. Thomas Jackson III, 36, of Springfield, was arrested on a warrant out of Warren County. Jackson was transported to a location near the Dayton Mall and turned over to a Warren County deputy.

Thursday, Aug. 24, Clayton report 230000965: During a traffic stop for speeding, Rudolph Haynesworth III, 43, of Union, was arrested on two warrants out of Union. Haynesworth was turned over to a Union officer and transported to the county jail.
