New teachers introduced to school board

BROOKVILLE — Several of the new teachers in the Brookville Local Schools district were introduced to the board of education.

The teachers were Madison Goubeaux (third grade); Riley Cruse (intervention specialist); Kristina Baber (language arts); Erin Ballinger (foundation); Leah Trimble (paraprofessional); Kim Bromagen (paraprofessional); Amanda Davis (first grade); Chloe Smith (second grade); Maddie Bazelak (first grade); Jeremy McGhee (industrial arts); Deron Brown (science) and Joseph Depoy (science).

In business matters, the board approved one-year limited contracts for Baber and Ballinger for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved a one-year contract for Tracey Ferris as a paraprofessional for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved a one-year contract for Nina Haney as a paraprofessional for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved a one-year contract for Sydney Lipps as a paraprofessional for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved a one-year contract for Ed Kirklin as a custodian for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved a one-year contract for Lisa Childers as a van driver for the 2023- 2024 school year.

The board approved a one-year contract for Sharon Isbell as a cook/cashier for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved a one-year contract for Tiffany Erwin as a cook/cashier for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved Drew Jackson as a volunteer for the boys basketball team for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved the following extracurricular contracts for the 2023-2024 school year:

Certified: Depoy – seventh and eighth grade football assistant coach

Classified:

• Kate Brand – seventh grade volleyball co-head coach

• Christina Bronner – seventh grade volleyball co-head coach

• Katie Stewart – varsity/reserve volleyball assistant

The board approved Nick Tidd as an extracurricular volunteer for boys and girls soccer for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved Christopher Randall as band equipment transportation volunteer for the 2023-2023 school year.

The board accepted the resignation of social studies teacher and Washington D.C. field trip coordinator Jennifer Howard,, effective July 18.

The board accepted the resignation of bus driver Cheryl Hoops, effective July 31.

The board accepted the resignation of custodian Gloria Gonzalez, effective July 28.

The board accepted the retirement resignation of mechanic Frank Casson, effective Aug. 2.

The board accepted the resignation of assistant volleyball coach Matthew Bridenbaugh, effective Aug. 17.

The board approved the following changes to the pay rate for athletic ticket takers:

• Varsity football – $40 per ticket taker, per game

• all other games – $20 per ticket taker, per game

The board approved the following leave requests:

• Natalie Storie – All-Ohio Counselors conference, Columbus, Ohio (Oct. 17-18)

• Stephanie Hinds – former elementary principal and current speaker Gerry Brooks, Miamisburg High School (Oct. 25)

• Becky Dunn – 2023 Ohio Art Education Association State Conference, Toledo, Ohio (Nov. 8-9)

• Rebecca Fellers – National Council of Teachers of English National Convention, Columbus, Ohio (Nov. 16-17)

The board approved the high school baseball team’s plans to travel March 30 through April 6 to Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

The board approved the chemistry textbook for the high school.
