BROOKVILLE — In August 1969, Short Stop Convenience Marts, Inc. of Columbus announced the grand opening of Music’s Short Stop Grocery & Delicatessen at 515 Westbrook Rd., Brookville.

Ernest and Margie Music of Brookville were the owners. Attending the ribbon cutting ceremony were Jerald Leiber, president of CIC; Ernie Music, proprietor, Brookville’s Mayor Robert Henn, Mrs. Louella Morgan, president of the Brookville Chamber of Commerce and George R. Wilkinson, representative of Short Stop Markets.

Short Stop’s Swift’N Simple Shopping was a new concept in food retailing. At that super-service superette, patrons parked at the front door, could shop at convenient hours, and receive personal friendly attention and check out.

The store carried a full line of national brand groceries, fresh meats, dairy and delicatessen foods, health and beauty aids. The store was open from 9 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week, including holidays.

The local Short Stop was the thirty-fifth to be opened in Ohio and plans called for the installation of 35 additional stores in Ohio in 1970. Many were to be in the Dayton area.
