Downtown Saturday Nite this weekend

The annual Old Fashioned Downtown Saturday Nite cruise-in is the largest of Downtown Eaton Inc.’s annual activities, with hundreds of classic cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles taking center stage downtown. There will be food vendors, fun for the kids, and live music from Tyler Walton and the Mayflower Satchel Band at the Saturday, Aug. 26, event.

EATON — Downtown Eaton Inc. is finalizing preparations for the 25th anniversary Old Fashioned Downtown Saturday Nite event to be held this Saturday, Aug. 26.

The annual cruise-in is the largest of DEI’s activities, with hundreds of classic cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles taking center stage downtown. There will be food vendors, fun for the kids, and live music from Tyler Walton and the Mayflower Satchel Band.

This year the group is combining Downtown Saturday Nite with its previous Truck Show, and inviting all proud vehicle owners and car clubs to come show off their rides.

This year’s car and truck show will run from 2-7 p.m. Pre-registration is available online for both car show participants and those wishing to take part in the free second annual Old Fashioned Pinup Pageant & Contest.

Car and truck lovers wishing to register their vehicles in advance can save money and time by doing so online at https://rb.gy/khrxwx, or by visiting www.downtowneatoninc.org, clicking on the “Events” tab and selecting Old Fashioned Downtown Saturday Nite. Awards will be presented at 6 p.m. Online registration will end Friday evening. In-person registration on Saturday will end at 3 p.m.

To try and keep registration and entry lines down this year, DEI is working with the Eaton First Church of God (601 E. Lexington Road) to create a staging area for all vehicles. Participants are asked to report there, where they’ll be able to shut off their vehicles and wait before being sent downtown for parking in the show area. All day-off registrations will be made at the church. Those who pre-registered should report there too, according to DEI officials.

Pageant contest participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite era’s vintage attire and join in for a retro good time. Registration for this event is free. The competition will have three categories: Junior Preteen (ages 0-12,) Junior Teen, (ages 13-17,) and Adult (ages 18 and over.)

All participants in the pageant contest will be required to check in upon arrival downtown at the DEI registration tent, to sign a waiver and/or confirm online registration prior to entering the contest area. Online registration is available at https://rb.gy/bqhykg, or by clicking on the Events tab at www.downtowneatoninc.org and selecting the information for Old Fashioned Downtown Saturday Nite.

Food vendor registration is available at https://tinyurl.com/46wpy9nz. Other vendors should contact DEI at [email protected] for more information.

Registration and staging for the show this year will be at Eaton First Church of God, 601 E. Lexington Road. All participants are asked to report there and not directly downtown.
