For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, July 21, Clayton report 230000827: Clinton T. Pierce, 42, of Springport, Ind., was charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving without a driver’s side mirror. He was transported to the county jail.

Saturday, July 22, Brookville report 23-00297: Brookville officers responded to a home in Clayton to serve the resident with a criminal trespass warning. Clayton officers were waiting outside with the resident, who was served with a trespass warning for Potter’s House Christian Center. A Clayton officer signed as a witness.

Brookville report 23-00299: Shawn M. Jordan, 38, of Brookville, was cited for having an open container in public (behind Speedway North). He was issued a court summons and transported home.

Clayton report 230000829: The theft of a Ruger .357 Magnum was reported at a residence in the 50 block of W. Salem St. The victim said his ex-girlfriend was inside when he was cutting the lawn and when he came in she and the firearm were gone.

Sunday, July 23, Clayton report 230000831: Matthew R. Allamon, 36, of Englewood, was charged with excessive speed, operating a vehicle under the influence and open container, and transported to the county jail.

Clayton report 230000834: Identity fraud was reported on Ashbrook Road where a resident reported receiving a change of address letter from the IRS. He contacted the IRS and he was informed it was a scam.

Monday, July 24, Clayton report 230000839: Jordan T. Burns, 28, of Clayton 45415, was charged with driving under OVI suspension, driving without a valid license, and brake lights required. He was transported to the county jail.

Clayton report 230000840: A resident reported that an unknown subject applied for a credit card using her identity. The application was denied. The resident froze her credit line.

Clayton report 230000841: James J. Sumlin, 39, of Clayton 45415, was arrested on a warrant out of Kettering for failure to appear on a charge of driving under the influence. He was transported to the county jail.

Clayton report 230000842: The theft of a license plate was reported in the 6400 block of Rangeview Dr.

Tuesday, July 25, Brookville report 23-00300: A 16-year-old male was issued a citation for improper backing after striking a passing motorist while attempting to back out of a driveway in the 700 block of Albert Rd. He was issued a court summons.

Brookville report 23-00301: Logan A. Hounshell, 24, of Brookville, was arrested on an active warrant and transported to the county jail.

Clayton report 230000846: Joseph Ostrander, 34, of Englewood, was arrested on a warrant out of Greene County. He was transported to Bob Evans on Woodman Drive and turned over to Sugarcreek Township Police.

Wednesday, July 26, Brookville report 23-00302: A female subject was issued a trespass warning at Brookville Inn. She was provided a ride to Gateway homeless shelter and released.

Clayton report 230000847: An unknown subject knocked over a mailbox in the 4100 block of Honeybrook Ave.

Clayton report 230000848: An unknown subject entered an unlocked vehicle parked on Rustic Oak Drive and removed a Capital One credit card, a Navy Federal card, a Code Credit Union card and Credit One card. Three of the four cards were used to purchase $300 worth of gift cards at a Speedway in Harrison Township.

Thursday, July 27, Clayton report 230000852: An unknown subject entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 4000 block of Rundell Dr. and removed a pair of Rayban sunglasses valued at $160 and a knife valued at $216.

Clayton report 230000853: A resident reported that a known subject had used, without authorization, his Net Spend prepaid credit card to make several purchases totaling $1,400. The victim filed a fraud report with Net Spend.

Clayton report 230000854: An unknown subject entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 6600 block of Morrow Dr. and removed a wallet containing cash and change from the glovebox. Police stated that several other vehicles in the area had been entered by a known suspect.

Clayton report 230000855: An unknown subject entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 7100 block of Robert Ulrich Ave. and removed a women’s wallet containing two Wright Patt Credit Union cards, an Ohio ID card, a temporary driver’s permit, a COVID-19 vaccination card, a medical card and $80 cash.

Clayton report 230000857: A resident of Par Drive reported the theft of a bracelet valued at $65 and a watch valued at $125 from a nightstand. The victim said Value City Furniture (Beavercreek) delivered new furniture and one of the delivery men asked to use the bathroom, which was right down the hall from her bedroom. After the delivery men left she noticed the items were missing. She contacted Value City and they advised her to file a police report.
