South tops Trail, 6-3

WEST ALEXANDRIA – Twin Valley South broke open a tie game late with visiting National Trail en route to a 6-3 win on Tuesday, April 11 in a Western Ohio Athletic Conference baseball game.

Tied at 1-1 in the fifth, South’s Kasey Blair singled in a pair of runs to give the Panthers a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

In the first inning, Blazers got their offense started as Burgan Hoffman singled to drive in run.

South responded with a run in the bottom of the inning on a fielder’s choice.

Gage Miller took the win for Twin Valley South. The senior surrendered three runs on ten hits over six innings, striking out six.

Senior Ben Browning took the loss for Blazers. The righthander lasted five innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out six.

The Blazers racked up ten hits in the game. Chase Ruebush and Hunter White each had multiple hits for Blazers. Ruebush went 3-for-4, while White finished 2-for-3.

Browning, Mason Leal, Cayden Clark, and Hoffman all had hits in the game.

For South, Blair went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Brayden Burkett had a hit, walked twice, scored a run and drove in a run.

Chandler Ulrich had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run.

The Panthers also earned wins last week over New Miami (19-0) on Monday, April 10, Mississinawa Valley (16-4) on Thursday and Yellow Springs (7-0) on Saturday.

South, now 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the WOAC, has now won five straight. The Panthers were scheduled to play Preble Shawnee on Tuesday, April 18. They will travel to Arcanum on Thursday and host Middletown Madison on Friday before closing out the week with a trip to Oakwood on Saturday.

Trail, now 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the WOAC, went 2-3 last week.

The Blazers lost to Arcanum 10-2 on Thursday, beat Trotwood 18-1 on Friday, beat Greenville 12-8 on Saturday and lost to Dayton Christian 13-8 on Saturday.

Trail was scheduled to play at Tri-Village on Tuesday, April 18. The Blazers will make a trip to Preble Shawnee on Wednesday and close out the week hosting Dixie on Thursday.
