BROOKVILLE — Council agreed to close a section of Blue Pride Drive for the Dayton Metro Library’s Brookville branch’s block party and craft fair scheduled June 17 on the library’s property, located at 120 Blue Pride Drive.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“We’re hoping to be able to use part of the street (Blue Pride) that leads to the school to park the food trucks for the event,” Brookville Branch Manager Damian Kristof said.

“We still can have the fair within our property. Ideally, though, we could have more food trucks if we are allowed to use that space,” Kristof added.

Kristof told council closing a section of Blue Pride Drive would also protect people attending the event from traffic.

“The service department can set up the barricades,” city manager Sonja Keaton replied.

Kristof also asked council for assistance in trash collection.

“The library did say there’s a way we could do it, but we would appreciate any help from the city,” Damian said.

Keaton replied the city can supply trash containers.

Councilmember Jeff Requarth, who is director of support personnel for Brookville Local Schools, told Kristof the district can also assist him in trash collection.

“Since we don’t have trash pick up, our trash dumpsters will be pretty empty that time of year, so we can assist you there. We pay the same whether they’re empty or full,” Requarth said.

Vice mayor James Zimmerlin asked Kristof if parking for the event will take place in the school district’s parking lot.

“We received permission from the school,” Kristof said.

Requarth confirmed Kristof’s reply.

Kristof indicated vendors may begin setting up their displays as early as 8 a.m.

“People might need more time to set up. The library staff will be there the entire time,” Kristof said.

Kristof said there currently are 41 applications for booths.

“I think we have two from Troy and one from Clayton. The rest are from people within Brookville,” Kristof said.

“It’s interesting to see that there are so many different craftsmen in town and they are interested in participating in the event,” Kristof said.

Anyone interested in participating in the event may go to https://forms.office.com/r/0ZN81gY9xS and fill out an application.

The deadline to apply is April 22.
