LEWISBURG — Tri-County North (TCN) Elementary School hosted its annual literacy night event on Monday, March 7, with this year’s theme being focused on aviation.

TCN served dinner for families followed by activities, book giveaways and a book fair. The event was well attended and took place at TCN Elementary.

According to fourth grade teacher Lisa Filbrun, the event helps to “promote reading” between students and their parents and strengthens reading at young ages.

“Parents get to get together with their kids and experience literacy in lots of different ways,” remarked first grade teacher Vickie Geglein.

“Every year we have a different topic. This year it’s aviation,” Geglein said, explaining one activity included a pilot showing students a virtual reality (VR) headset where they could experience flying.

“We just want to foster a love of reading,” Geglein concluded.
