EATON — The Preble County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Good Medicine to Eaton with a ribbon cutting ceremony,at the business’ new location, 114 East Main Street, Eaton, on Friday, March 3.

“We are here to welcome this new establishment in Eaton, Good Medicine,” Chamber Executive Director Karen Moss said.

Moss thanked chamber members for their attendance, as well as Downtown Eaton Inc. members, City of Eaton representatives and all other attendees.

“I was glad to put all this together. And Jen — Jen’s been working on this for months, and I want to thank her and Sarah, and Rachel, and Danny for making this place beautiful today,” began Good Medicine founder and owner, Nathan Morris.

“Just a little history, we’ve been in practice, Good Medicine has been in existence — since 2008. We were in practice in Oxford, then something came up in my life, which was my wife saying, ‘we’re moving to Colorado.’ So, that’s what happened to me,”

“I had great employees and a business here that I didn’t want to give up,” added Morris.

Morris stressed the importance of being a part of the community, something which became more important to him after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It’s really important to be part of a community and be seen in the community,” he said.

According to Morris, the aim of Good Medicine is to ensure high quality pharmaceuticals with the purest ingredients, rather than providing the more common and less refined mass-produced pharmaceuticals used in popular chains.

“Bringing something truly unique to Eaton, because there is nothing like this, probably within thirty miles, I would say. Guaranteed nothing like this,” concluded Morris.

“The biggest thing for me is being part of the community,” said Jennifer Schmidt, manager of the Eaton location, “Sarah and I both have grown up in Preble County, literally. Just being in this community again and seeing people. We want to do everything with Downtown Eaton Inc. and be part of it.”

Morris has a medical doctorate specializing in hidden diseases and nutrigenomics from LSU Shreveport. After obtaining his degree, he moved to Dayton to complete his family practice residency at Miami Valley Hospital where he served as chief resident. He now operates Good Medicine in Monument, Colorado along with his six colleagues.

According to the mission statement on Good Medicine’s website, “Good Medicine is a functional medicine-based practice dedicated to exploring impactful issues for proactive health and vitality. We’re built on the belief that medicine should be focused on identifying and repairing the root cause of diseases, rather than just masking the symptoms.”
